Strategy over hype
Release day is one moment. A rollout is a month of building toward it and keeping it alive after. Planning 30 days out gives you time to make the right assets, line up press and build anticipation, so the launch lands with an audience already waiting. It works for a single, an EP or a product.
The structure below draws on Artist Influence’s release rollout cheat sheet.
The rollout at a glance
- Weeks 4–3 beforeStory and assetsLock the date, write the story, make the photos, video and clips.
- Weeks 2–1 beforeTeasers, pre-saves, pressBuild curiosity, push the pre-save or waitlist, pitch the story.
- Release weekOne coordinated pushStrongest clip everywhere, something first for your core fans.
- Week 1 afterKeep momentumPost daily, share real wins, stay in the comments and DMs.
- Weeks 2–4 afterFresh anglesRework the core assets into new formats, 2–4 times a week.
Weeks 4–3 before: story and assets
This is the setup. Decide what the release is about and make everything you’ll need.
- Lock the release date, metadata and distribution.
- Write the story: what this release means and why now.
- Finish masters and artwork.
- Make a core set of assets: a few photos, one video and several short clips for Reels and Shorts.
- Artists: film behind-the-scenes footage while you’re still in the process. Brands: shoot the product in real use.
Everything later in the rollout is built from these assets, so make them consistent and on-brand.
Weeks 2–1 before: teasers, pre-saves, press
- Post short teasers that make people curious without giving everything away.
- Launch your pre-save link (artists) or waitlist (brands) and push people to it.
- Pitch blogs, curators, creators and local press with the story and assets.
- Brands: share sneak peeks and the making-of.
Release week
- Post across Reels, Shorts, TikTok and Stories on release day, using the strongest clip.
- Give your most engaged fans or customers something first: early access, a thank-you or an exclusive.
- Brands: launch with one clear campaign message across every channel.
A release is a month, not a moment.
The first week after
- Keep posting daily, guided by what people are actually saving and sharing.
- Share real wins as they happen: playlist adds, sold-out batches, fan reactions.
- Keep the conversation going in comments and DMs.
Weeks 2–4 after: same release, fresh angles
- Post 2–4 times a week, reworking your core assets into new formats.
- Artists: lyric videos, live or acoustic takes, a remix.
- Brands: customer photos, how-to carousels, Stories series.
Using the same plan for a product launch
Every step above works for a product. Swap pre-saves for a waitlist, press for creators in your niche, and streams for sales and saves. The principle stays the same: plan ahead, build anticipation and stay consistent after launch day.
